TRAINING
How does the Aussie Pro Runner benefit my training compared to a regular treadmill?
Six key differences: you power the belt yourself so it feels harder at the same pace, there's no programmed top speed, transitions between sprint and full stop are instant for HIIT, the curve encourages better running form naturally, balancing on the curve engages your core and stabilisers, and the sled-push resistance mode is something no motorised treadmill offers. Plus zero electricity required.
Can I train for a marathon or half-marathon on the Aussie Pro Runner?
Yes, absolutely. The Aussie Pro Runner is well-suited to marathon training, long zone-2 sessions, and high-mileage endurance work. Many of our clients are running hour-plus sessions. The shock absorbing slat belt is easier on joints than a hard motorised deck, which matters when you're putting in hour-plus runs multiple times a week. The curved deck design is what Olympic Guide Runner Jerome Avery uses with athletes at the Chula Vista (San Diego) Elite Athlete Training Center.
Is the Aussie Pro Runner good for HIIT and interval training?
Yes - it's built for it. The most common use is short-duration intervals: 20 to 40 second efforts with rest in a circuit format. Because there's no motor to spin up, the belt starts the instant you drive it and stops the instant you do. For HIIT, that responsiveness is critical. Common formats include 30-20-10 protocols, EMOM (every minute on the minute), and AMRAP circuits.
Can the Aussie Pro Runner be used for walking or longer steady-state runs?
Yes. Walking on a curved treadmill burns up to 34% more calories at the same pace. You control the pace with your stride, so the Aussie Pro Runner works just as well for marathon training, long zone-2 runs, and casual walking as it does for sprint work.
What kind of programming variety can I run on a single Aussie Pro Runner?
Steady-state walks and jogs, sprint intervals, sled-push power blocks, EMOM circuits, AMRAP conditioning, active recovery, and warm-up volume. The same machine covers warm-up, working sets, and cooldown without swapping equipment.
Can the Aussie Pro Runner simulate incline training effectively?
Yes, in terms of training effect. Running on the curve already engages glutes, calves, and hamstrings the way an inclined motorised belt does. Adding magnetic resistance and positioning further forward on the deck builds the muscular and cardiovascular load of a steep incline session, even though the deck stays in its fixed curved shape. There's no powered tilt - the curve itself is the incline mechanism.
What resistance exercises can I do with the resistance feature?
A wide range beyond running: sled push and drive (high resistance, low athletic stance), high-resistance marches, isometric holds against the belt, acceleration training, resisted intervals (20 seconds heavy, 10 seconds free-running), and slow-speed strength work for athletes returning from injury under clinician supervision. Essentially a treadmill and a sled in one machine.
Is the Aussie Pro Runner suitable for rehabilitation or older users?
Yes, with appropriate supervision. Older adults and rehab clients often value the user-paced control (the belt only moves with your effort) and the slat-belt surface. The low-impact construction reduces joint loading compared to road running or hard-belt treadmills. Always work with a medical professional for specific rehab protocols.
Can I track my workouts and sync with fitness apps or wearables?
The console doesn't connect directly to apps. Most users wear a smartwatch in indoor-run mode (Apple Watch, Garmin, Fitbit). Wearables estimate indoor distance from accelerometer data and capture heart rate from the wrist, then sync to Apple Health, Garmin Connect, or Strava automatically. For an accurate distance reading, check the console and log it manually if needed.
Technique & Form
How does a curved treadmill change your running form?
The curved belt only moves when you drive it forward, which encourages a midfoot or forefoot strike rather than the heavier heel-strike pattern common on flat motorised treadmills. That naturally pulls your stride under your hips, encourages a slight forward lean from the ankles, and makes overstriding harder to sustain. Most runners notice a form shift within the first session.
Can a curved treadmill help fix overstriding?
Yes. Overstriding on a curved deck slows the belt and pushes you backward, so your body learns within minutes that the only way to keep momentum is to land closer to your center of gravity. It's immediate biofeedback that coaches can't always replicate with cues alone.
Does the Aussie Pro Runner help with running technique?
Yes. The curved belt naturally cues midfoot or forefoot strike, a forward hip position, and quick foot turnover. If your form breaks down, the belt slows - prompting self-correction in real time. With regular use, that feedback loop builds cleaner mechanics over time.
Does a curved treadmill reduce impact on knees and joints?
The curved surface and shock-absorbing tread slats soften ground contact compared to a flat hard belt. By encouraging midfoot or forefoot strike, load shifts away from the knees and hips toward the calves and Achilles tendons. Whether that suits your specific situation depends on your history - check with a clinician if you're managing a specific injury.
Can complete beginners run on a curved manual treadmill?
Yes, with a brief learning curve. Most people pick up the technique within 5 to 10 minutes. Start at a walk or easy jog, use the front handrail for balance, and focus on landing under your hips. After one or two sessions the mechanics feel natural.
How long does it take to adapt to running on a curved treadmill?
Most runners feel comfortable within 1 to 3 sessions. The muscles used for self-propulsion (calves, hamstrings, glutes) get worked harder than on a motorised belt, so expect some new-muscle soreness the first week. Form and pacing both feel natural within a few weeks of regular use.
How is running on a curved treadmill different from running outdoors?
A curved manual treadmill gives you a controlled surface where every step is measurable and you can stop the belt instantly by stopping yourself. It's closer to outdoor mechanics than a motorised belt because the surface only moves with your effort. What you miss is wind, terrain variation, and the moving background - which is why most athletes use it as a complement to outdoor training, not a replacement.
Is the Aussie Pro Runner suitable for gait analysis or running coaching?
Yes. Coaches and movement specialists use it as a controlled filming environment because the runner stays in one spot. You can isolate cadence, foot strike, and hip position without the moving background of an outdoor track or the artificial pacing of a motorised belt.
Can I use the Aussie Pro Runner barefoot?
AFP's official recommendation is proper athletic footwear. The slat-belt surface is firm rubber with small gaps between slats. If barefoot or minimalist training is part of your regular routine, you can run without shoes - many athletes love the natural feel - but ease into longer sessions and be mindful of grip around the edges of the slats.
Features & Specs
Does the Aussie Pro Runner require electricity or a power outlet?
No. The treadmill is fully manual - you generate the motion by running, walking, or pushing the deck. The only electronics are the console display and heart rate sensor, both battery-powered. No power outlet needed, no electricity cost, and placement isn't constrained by outlet access.
How fast does the Aussie Pro Runner go?
As fast as you can run. There's no programmed speed limit because you're driving the belt. The console records whatever pace you produce in real time. Note that pace on a curved manual treadmill typically reads slower than the same effort on a motorised treadmill or track - the curve, self-propulsion, and natural belt drag all contribute. That harder effort per minute is actually the point.
What is the weight capacity of the Aussie Pro Runner?
350 lbs athlete max. The welded steel frame and sealed bearings are built to commercial specifications, designed for multiple users per day in institutional settings.
What is the sled-push mode and how does it work?
A magnetic resistance dial on the side of the deck engages variable drag against the flywheel, turning the treadmill into a sled. At zero, the belt spins freely for normal running. As you turn the dial up, the belt becomes harder to drive - simulating a HYROX-style sled push, hill work, or power intervals. You can change resistance mid-workout to mix sprints and resisted intervals in the same session.
Does the Aussie Pro Runner have an adjustable incline?
There's no powered tilt - the curved deck is fixed in shape. The curve itself creates a natural slight incline effect throughout the workout. To increase the hill feel, run or walk toward the front of the curve (steeper position) and turn the magnetic resistance dial up to add drag.
What maintenance does the Aussie Pro Runner require?
Minimal. There's no motor to service and the slat belt does not need lubrication. Wipe down sweat and dust after sessions, keep the machine on a level surface, and check that bolts stay tight periodically. The sealed bearings require no user lubrication. It's one of the lowest-maintenance pieces of cardio equipment available.
Is the Aussie Pro Runner noisy during use?
Quieter than a motorised treadmill - no motor hum and no incline drive. The two sources of noise are footstrike (impact through the deck) and the slat belt rolling over the bearings, often described as a whooshing sound. Both scale with your pace. For a home setting - attached garage, finished basement, or dedicated gym room - it's significantly quieter than a powered treadmill.
Is the Aussie Pro Runner suitable for commercial gym or institutional use?
Yes. The 350 lb athlete max, welded steel frame, and sealed bearings are spec'd for commercial settings with multiple users per day. With no motor or incline drive to wear out, a curved manual treadmill typically needs less maintenance than a motorised commercial unit over its lifespan.
Can the Aussie Pro Runner be used outdoors?
It's designed for indoor use. The steel frame and electronics aren't built for direct rain, sun, or sustained humidity. Short outdoor sessions on a covered patio or with an open garage door are fine, but the unit should live in a climate-controlled space to maintain finish and console reliability.
Is it easy to move the Aussie Pro Runner?
Yes. Built-in wheels let you roll it easily - grab the hand grips and move it like a wheelbarrow. Despite the commercial-grade steel frame, repositioning within your home or gym is straightforward.
Sport & Performance
Can you actually get faster at sprinting by using a curved manual treadmill?
Used regularly for sprint work, yes. The curved belt forces real propulsion with no motor pulling the surface, so the leg strength and turnover you build transfers directly to track performance. Sprinters use it for timed 100m, 200m, and 400m efforts, acceleration mechanics work, and repeat sprint conditioning.
What strength exercises pair well with curved treadmill sprint sessions?
Sprint athletes typically pair curved treadmill work with squats, hip thrusts, deadlifts, and single-leg exercises for posterior chain power, plus core anti-rotation work (Pallof presses, suitcase carries) for trunk control during sprints.
Can the Aussie Pro Runner replace track work entirely?
For most athletes, no - it's a complementary tool. The curved deck builds mechanics, top-end power, and conditioning in a controlled environment, but you still need outdoor track time for race specificity, blocks, and curve running. Where it excels is making conditioning volume reliable in any weather and any training environment.
Is a curved treadmill good for rugby and collision sport conditioning?
Yes. Off-season rugby programs lean on repeat sprint ability, leg drive for contact, and conditioning volume - a curved manual treadmill covers all three in one footprint. The sled-push resistance mode lets forwards build the hip extension and trunk bracing used in scrums and tackles, on the same machine, without dragging equipment onto the field.
Can multiple athletes share one Aussie Pro Runner during a team session?
Yes. Because the belt starts and stops with the user, athletes rotate on and off without resetting controls or waiting for a motor to spin down. Strength coaches often run round-robin format with a stopwatch and one machine for a small squad. Adding a second unit lets you run head-to-head efforts side by side.
Is the Aussie Pro Runner good for HYROX training?
Yes - it's one of the most race-specific training tools available for HYROX athletes. The self-powered format mimics run-station conditions where you must maintain pace without external assistance. The sled-push resistance mode directly replicates the sled push station. Many HYROX competitors use it as their primary conditioning machine for exactly this reason.
How does a coach scale Aussie Pro Runner workouts for different fitness levels?
The machine self-scales because the user controls speed. A beginner walks, a fit client jogs, and an advanced athlete sprints - all on the same setup with no changes. For sled mode, turning the magnetic resistance dial up or down matches each client's capacity, making mixed-ability group sessions possible without juggling equipment.
Home Gym
What makes the Aussie Pro Runner a good choice for a home gym?
A curved manual treadmill with a built-in sled-push mode lets one footprint cover running and power work. No motor means no power cord and no electricity bill. The welded steel frame and sealed bearings keep it quiet for a garage gym and need very little upkeep, even with daily use. It effectively replaces a treadmill, a push sled, and a separate resistance training tool.
Can a curved manual treadmill handle daily home gym use?
Yes. The frame, bearings, and slat belt are all built to commercial specs. A single home gym user putting in daily sessions puts very little comparative wear on the machine. Maintenance is minimal - wipe it down, keep it level, and check the bolts occasionally.
Is a manual curved treadmill loud enough to disturb people in the house?
No motor means no motor whine. The only sound is the belt rolling and your feet hitting the deck - closer to outdoor running than a powered treadmill. Sealed bearings keep the machine quiet through years of regular use. For attached garages, finished basements, or a dedicated home gym room, noise is rarely an issue.
Is the Aussie Pro Runner suitable for beginners and casual users?
Yes. The machine moves only when you do, so casual users stay in control of pace at all times. Most people find walking and easy jogging feel natural within a few minutes. Use the front handrail for balance early on if needed. The self-paced format means the machine never forces you faster than you're ready for.

Shipping & Delivery
How long does it take for my order to ship?
Your order ships next business day via freight (LTL). Most orders are received within 5 days, though freight transit times are estimates. Delivery is curbside - the freight company delivers to your driveway and you are responsible for moving the unit inside. Plan to have at least two people ready to help on delivery day.
Will the delivery company schedule a drop-off time with me?
Yes. LTL freight requires a delivery appointment. Once your pallet reaches the local terminal, the carrier contacts you to schedule a delivery window (typically a morning or afternoon block). Watch for calls from unknown numbers once your tracking shows the pallet has arrived locally.
How should I prepare for delivery?
Have at least two people ready to help move the unit. Measure your doorways in advance - the assembled machine is about 36 inches wide, so a 36-inch doorway is tight. Plan to tilt or partially uncrate if needed. Keep a box cutter handy for packaging straps and inspect the box for visible damage before signing the Bill of Lading.
Will I receive a confirmation that my order has shipped?
Yes. You will receive an email confirmation with a tracking number when your Aussie Pro Runner leaves the dock.
